Beat Well is a free, community-based cardiac rehabilitation programme for adults aged 50+ living with heart conditions. It helps people safely improve their fitness, confidence and overall well-being in a friendly, supportive environment. Sessions are led by trained professionals and tailored to individual needs, with both seated and standing exercise options.

Structured exercise sessions

- Guidance on topics such as physical activity, diet and emotional wellbeing

Free to attend for eligible adults aged 50+
Held at the Second Half Centre in the St Charles Centre for Health & Wellbeing
Patient aftercare and follow‑up
Throughout the 24‑week course, staff will:
Monitor your progress and adjust activities to your fitness level and health needs
Offer ongoing advice to help you safely increase activity and manage your condition
You will be encouraged to:
Continue appropriate exercises at home where advised
Ask questions about your heart health, medications and lifestyle changes during health education sessions
At the end of the programme, you may be:
Signposted to other Open Age activities to maintain your fitness and social connections
Given guidance on how to keep active and look after your heart in the long term
(With your consent, they may also communicate with your GP or cardiac team to support your ongoing care.)
